PROJECT: Art Nouveau Wallpaper Reconstruction at Wigtown Scotland (UK)
JUNE 2025

For a private mansion in Wigtown I was asked by colleague David Skinner to reconstruct a beautiful red art nouveau wallpaper. The pattern itself was not that difficult, the largest work went into reconstructing the original textures from the rotation print, so they could later be digitally printed.
I was also given a piece of jacquard woven fabric to match the wallpaper colours with.

So happy this pattern was saved by the owners and given a second life. Even if reconstruction is digitally printed, we must not forget that this is an important part of contemporary registration and conservation: for every digitally printed reconstruction, you need to digitize and digitally restore the wallpaper. This file, together with the original piece of wallpaper is valuable information for future generations.
